Using Your Nintendo Network ID and Miiverse on 3DS

Nintendo’s Miiverse allows you to participate in a gaming-themed social network. Here you can make friends with other gamers, share doodles, and chat about anything gaming-related or not right from your consoles.

It initially launched in late 2012 with the Wii U, and in 2013 updated to Nintendo’s portable 3DS console. This meant that as long as users have an Internet connection, they can start Nintendo discussions anywhere.

Some games will even allow Miiverse features directly in the game. A player’s post may show up right while you are playing the game to let you know how they are feeling. This is great for gaming tips in the heat of the moment.

If you are looking to become more involved with Nintendo communities, here is an easy way to make your Nintendo 3DS compatible for the Miiverse so you can start making new friends in the gaming world.

System Update

You will first need to update your current system. This is easily done by going to “Settings” in your 3DS home screen. Once there, you should click on “Other Settings”. Go to the fourth settings menu and choose System Update. You will select OK after reading and accepting the terms of agreement. You will need to restart your system.

Once this is done and your system restarts, you will find Miiverse at the top right of your 3DS home screen. It will launch automatically once it is correctly installed.

In Miiverse

Once you are in Miiverse, you will need to accept the User Agreement and select a Nintendo Network ID. You can either use an existing one or link to a new one. Once you connect to a Nintendo Network ID, you can begin posting questions and thoughts about games.

Once you open your Wii U console, Mii characters will greet you in the “WaraWara Plaza”. Hundreds of little characters will be walking around sharing their thoughts and what they are currently up to. Here you can see how other people are feeling, their current messages and comments in group discussions.

You can access Miiverse whenever you want, even when you are in the middle of a game. You can take a screenshot of what you are playing and send it out. There are fun, small actions you can make while playing to communicate with others. These include little facial expressions and the “Yeah!” button which will let users know how you are feeling.

Miiverse allows you to message other players, and to make friends with other people so that you can follow their activities. This will show up on your feed, and you can interact with those playing games with you.

From here, you will be able to edit your profile, view notifications, and share to the gaming world your drawings and screenshots. There are countless community discussions that you can join about current 3DS games. Here you can learn tips on skills and how to improve in each game through real help from other players.
